The event is held at St. Mary’s Center, 925 Brockurst Street, Oakland, CA 94608 on Saturday, October 26, 2019 between 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Round trip bus transportation is being provided to the first 300 people that sign up! Over 1,000 disadvantaged women and children from across the Bay Area attend this event each year. Shelters, transitional housing, undocumented, recovery facilities, social services, individuals, and referrals from any public-city/state/government agency can apply!
This event is open to all women and children who are survivors of violence and human trafficking, homeless, impoverished, undocumented, or experiencing adversities throughout the Bay Area. It’s better to register in advance. However, you are still welcome to register at the door, but please be prepared to fill out the registration form upon your arrival.
This engaging day-long program, allows women and children to “retreat for the day.” Victims and survivors from local shelters, disadvantaged communities, and homeless encampments get to come to a safe East Bay location to experience a day of shopping, pampering, and outreach. This important day celebrates their courage and importance in our society, free from judgment and blame. They will get pampered with makeovers, hair styling, manicures and more; receive services essential in promoting health and wellness, self-sufficiency, and community services by our participating partner organizations and businesses; and shop until they drop with a shopping spree of donated new and used clothing, shoes, household items, bedding, toiletries, and more.
There will be entertainment, food, and more. Children will get to do their own shopping for toys, books, and games while enjoying healthy meals and other entertainment. We will also provide round trip bus transportation to 300 women and children who do not have the means or ability to get to and from the event.
