Mental Health Ambassador Certificate

About this course

This certificate course series provides an overview of the professional skills and self-care techniques used in human service career settings: Fundamentals of trauma-informed self-care, safety and crisis plans, navigation/referral to local resources, and preparation.  Students will also learn industry specific technical skills for social and human service career settings: Training on Narcan/Naloxone usage, CalFresh and MediCal enrollment support, Intimate Partner Violence intervention, group and individual support facilitation skills, conflict resolution, motivational interviews.  Successful candidates will earn a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Certification and the Social and Human Services Work Readiness Certificate of Completion.

How do I register?
For new and returning students, please contact the Berkeley City College Transition Liaison/ Project Manager at https://www.berkeleycitycollege.edu/adult-education/. A Transition Liaison can meet one-on-one with adult learners to discuss their interests, values and skills. We have a series of college success workshops that provide assistance through the matriculation process to Peralta college and help each student identify possible college and career options. The student can then learn what type of education is needed and have a clearer understanding of what it will take to obtain that goal. We are here as a support, create connections to resources available at the Peralta colleges and to offer guidance.
