With her eyes on transferring to UC Berkeley, Xiaofang is currently taking chemistry, calculus, and economics at Berkeley City College (BCC). This single mom of two is interested in Business.
Thais reports that she is currently working on her Community Health Worker certificate at BCC with an interest in Medical Assisting.
Chime’s goal is to go into nursing and shares the experience of so many working mothers “It’s difficult with this pandemic (being a) working mother and having kids in Zoom class and also my own Zoom class and homework. So it’s a bit (of a) trying time for all of us.”
Lynda is taking Real Estate courses at Merritt College with an interest in Urban Planning, which she studies prior to coming to the US.
Gunther continues his English Language learning at BCC as a full time Business Administration major.
Ismael is taking Psychology and Sociology this semester and aiming for an Associate Degree in Administration of Justice before transferring to a four-year institution.
Cher lost her job because of COVID and is now studying Photoshop, Illustrator, and photography at BCC. She looks forward to working in digital marketing again, like she did in China.
