Should You Take ESL at an Adult School or a Community College?

Start at an Adult School
Adult schools are a good choice if you are a beginner or if you want to improve your everyday English.

Do I Need a Social Security Number?
Adult School
- No Social Security number is required
Community College
- You may be asked for a Social Security number, but you do not have to provide one.
- If you do not have one, you may be charged higher tuition as an international student.
- If you attend high school in California, ask about AB 540, which may help you qualify for lower tuition.
